Myrtle was the sixth of ten children. On December 31, 1915, she married Lyle Keene at the Presbyterian church in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Rev. Webster performed the ceremony. The couple raised four sons: Frederick Philo, Dale Ralph, Roger Edwin, and Wayne Paul.
