Gayle G. Moore, age 91, of Portage, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso surrounded by her loving family. Gayle had been a Portage resident since 1996 and was formerly of Woodmar area of Hammond for over 50 years. She was a retired sales associate from Carson Pirie Scott in Hammond and was a member of Bible Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Church Choir and Hannah Prayer Group. Gayle enjoyed activities with the "Thankful Lady's" at Bible Baptist Church and was an avid reader, crafter and specialized in beautiful counted cross stitch. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Farris Moore; three children: Douglas (Linda) Moore of Elkhart, IN, Bruce (Sandra) Moore of Cary, NC and Beth (Don) Halfman of Portage; grandchildren: Brian (Ashley) Moore, Christopher (Janet) Moore, Nathaniel Moore (fiancée, Ashley) and Sarah (Kyle) Lesar, Steven Halfman and Matthew Halfman; great grandchildren: Andrew, Charles and Sean Moore, and Liberty Lesar; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Phipps of Camarillo, CA. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to VNA Hospice. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church, 6659 US Highway 6, Portage with Pastor Don Good officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, IN. Visitation is Monday from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church. Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage is in charge of arrangements.
