Bettie Carrington Dinwiddie Kilgore was born in Clarksville, Tennessee December 9, 1873. She died in Raleigh, NC August 12, 1909 from malaria. She is buried in
the Kilgore plot, Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh. She married Benjamin Wesley Kilgore August 10, 1898 in Raleigh. Bettie and Benjamin had three children, Elizabeth, Ben Jr. and Jim. They are buried in the same Kilgore plot in Oakwood.

Elizabeth "Bess" Carrington Kilgore Gibbs married Robert Henry Gibbs December 5, 1928 in Raleigh. They divorced and she spent most of her adult life living in Chevy Chase, Maryland until she moved to Raleigh in her later years. Bess and Bob had three children: Robert Henry Gibbs, Jr., Benjamin Kilgore Gibbs and George Sabin Gibbs. Robert worked with the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. He died April 3, 1988 in Bethesda, Maryland. He was cremated and his ashes were spread under a weeping willow in the Catkills, Roxbury, New York. His brothers survive.
