Arnold P. Butler, Sr. 76, of Rutland, died Nov. 4, 2003, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Rutland, the son of William and Edith (Durkee) Butler, Sr.
He was manager and cheesemaker of the Plymouth Cheese Corporation for many years. Prior to that he worked at Crowley Cheese.
Mr. Butler was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
He enjoyed gardening, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Howland) Butler of Rutland; a son, Arnold Butler, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; three daughters, Audrey Butler of Rutland, Debbie Paulsen and Diane Henschel, both of Kennesaw, GA; a brother, William Butler, Jr. of Rutland; six grandchildren and one step-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and two cousins.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Rutland. The Rev. Richard Tinney, pastor of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Fair Haven, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Castleton.
