William moved to California in 1869, having come here with his father, Zachariah, from Lincoln county, Mo. His first years were spent on the farm in Lincoln county where his birth occurred in April of 1864. He was fourth oldest in a family of six. William was a large stock-farmer of the vicinity of Los Banos. His sister, Susan, married D. M. Wood, of Santa Cruz. His brother, James L. Jameson, was a well-known farmer in Merced county. James lived three miles southwest of Los Banos, where he owned one hundred and sixty-five acres, all under alfalfa, and developed to a dairy ranch, and he also owned three hundred and twenty acres of grain land above the canal. His sister Emma was the wife of G. R. Wood, of Santa Cruz.

William's wife was Carrie Marin Wiley.
