Pat was united in marriage to Reva (Grandstaff) Miley on November 27, 1966 at Winona, MO. Pat and Reva spent an adventurous 44 years together. To this union, they proudly welcomed one son, Gilbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Merle Grandstaff and mother-in-law Frances (Johnson) Grandstaff, and brother Robert Lawrence Miley.
Pat is survived by his wife Reva Miley of the home, one son Gilbert O. Miley and his wife Michelle, three grandchildren Zack, Abby and Drew Thomas all of Winona, MO; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
Pat graduated from Winona High School in 1954. He joined the Navy that same year during the Korean War. After his military service from 1954-1958, Pat attended San Francisco State. Then, Pat moved to Alaska and kept various jobs. He returned to Kansas City and worked at a hardware store before going back to Alaska and working on an oil rig. Following that, Pat returned to Shannon County where he became part owner/operator of Miley's Hardware. Following the death of his parents, Pat devoted himself to successfully running the hardware, on the square, until retiring in 1999.
Pat enjoyed a cup of coffee and conversation at the local restaurant, reading, gardening, yard work, discussing politics and local history, and supporting the Winona Wildcats. He mostly loved being Grandpa. He was extremely proud of his grandkids. Pat was a very kind and considerate man. He did not know a stranger. He, being bigger than life, will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO with Michael Miley speaking. Interment was in Oak Forest Cemetery in Birch Tree, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes of Winona, MO.
