Mary E. Peterson, 92, of Springfield, died at 1:36 am, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at St. John's Hospital.

She was born March 11, 1918 in Springfield, to Thomas Wilson and Mary Alice Peaker Robertson. She married William E. Peterson on July 7, 1946 and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2001. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons Frederick Wilson and James Edward; five brothers and five sisters

Survivors include one son, WillIam R. (Shirley Ann) Peterson; 3 grandchildren, Bill (Paula) Peterson, Cindy Fickas and Kim (Brian) Judd; six great grandchildren, Phillip.Tricia and Lauren Peterson and Cory, Shannon & Shawn Neuhoff; one great great grandchild, Brody John and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked for the International Shoe Factory and Allis Chalmers. She was a member of the First Church of God and VFW Auxiliary Post 755. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Visitation: 10-11 am, Friday, January 14, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home

Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, January 14, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
