Robert A. Eberz, 87, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, January 10 after a brief illness. He was a life resident of Syracuse, an Army veteran of WWII, and served in the European Theatre. Robert retired from Conrail after 50 years as a claims agent. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, member of Valley American Legion Post #1468, and member of Turn Hall.
Bob was my Uncle and he was a wonderful story teller. He knew the history of our family so well and I enjoyed hearing about my grandfather, father and the uncles. He was an avid fisherman - loved the lakes in NY state and often he and his brother Jack would go fishing. My Uncle Jack and Bob took care of my very sick grandmother for years and later took care of their elderly father. They were the best two men I ever knew. Later in life after my grandfather's death, Bob married Deloris and he loved her dearly. She took care of both Bob and Jack when they got sick - what a blessing she was to our family.
Bob loved classical music, good port wine, cigars, his family, CATS, wild creatures(cared for an injured hawk), and Syracuse. He loved his computer and camera: he took more photos than anyone I ever knew - many were of his cats, nephews and nieces.
I will miss him forever - he was generous, kind, and one of the best people I ever knew. He is now with my grandparents, his brothers(my Dad being one of them)and all of his cats.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris Martin Eberz; two stepchildren, Bill Martin of Bridgeport, Pam (Ronald) Kuch of City Island, NY; a brother, John P. Eberz of Syracuse; a stepgranddaughter, Kelly Silver; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Izabella Silver; four nieces, Ann Burlingame, Alison Cranson, Susan Emery, Nancy Boltwood; three nephews, George, John and William Eberz; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Tnpk. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment: Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
