Son of Ezra W and Mehitable E Currier Bartlett, joined the civil war enlisting 30 Sept 1861. After training at Camp Carpenter left NH on 20 Dec 1861 he was a member of Company K, New Hampshire 8th Regiment. He was killed at the Battle of Port Hudson, La on 14 June 1863.

He is not listed in the lot book of the Valley Cemetery as this is a memorial stone, most likely he is buried near the battlefield, there is no mention of his military service on his stone, nor is there any evidence of a pension being applied for.
