He was the son of William Keppel Barrington, 6th Viscount Barrington of Ardglass and Hon. Jane Elizabeth Liddell. He married Isabel Elizabeth Morritt, daughter of John Morritt, Jr. and Mary Baillie, on 19 February 1846 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England.
He died aged 62 at Grimsthorpe Castle, Lincolnshire, England, after a few hours illness.
