DOUGLAS BEAUMONT SHERRILL, MD, 83, of Pasadena, Texas, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 28, 1918 in Beaumont, Texas. Dr. Sherrill graduated from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Tx. in 1942. Graduated from Tulane University, New Orleans, La. in 1946. He interned at Jeff Davis Hospital, Houston, Tx. from 1946 - 1947. Member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Pasadena, Tx.; Life member of Harris County Medical Society; American Medical Assn.; AMA 50 Year Club; Texas Medical Assn.; and was a member of Pasadena Rotary Club until his retirement in 1991. He served in US Navy Reserves during Medical School and served in US Air Force from 1950 - 1952. He began his medical practice in 1947 in Houston, Tx. with his father and 3 brothers. He moved to Pasadena, Tx. in 1953 and opened his medical practice there at this time. Preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children, Gwendolyn Pickard Sherrill in 1977 and wife Dorothy Clinton Sherrill in 1998. Father, Ethan Allen Sherrill, Sr. MD and Mother, Alice L. Sherrill. Brothers, Ethan Allen Sherrill, Jr. MD; Lloyd H. Sherrill, MD; and William M. Sherrill, MD. Sisters Alyce Crow; Mrs. R. E. Martin, and Mrs. D. H. Hawkins. Also a granddaughter, Suzanah Elizabeth York. Dr. Sherrill is survived by his children Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Gallner & husband Edward - Pasadena, Tx. Judith Adele Peters & husband Phil - Conroe, Tx. Susan Holly Tenini & husband John W. - Conroe, Tx. Allen Richard Sherrill & wife Melba - Houston, Tx. Douglas Edward Sherrill - Pasadena, Tx. Grandchildren: Emily Jeanette York; Hilary Elizabeth York; John Sherrill Gallner; Tricia Tenini McHargue; Ashley Sherrill Tenini; Heather Suzanne Tenini; Charles Phillips Peters; Anne Elizabeth Peters; and Zachary Allen Sherrill.
