U.S. Congressman. After graduating from Mount Union High School, in 1895, he took over his father’s family hotel business, serving as the proprietor of the Beers Hotel Mount Union, Pennsylvania. He was Mayor of Mount Union, (1910-14) a member of the board of directors of the First National Bank of Mount Union, the Grange Trust Company and an associate judge of Huntingdon County, (1914-23). In 1923, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-eighth Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 54.
