Golda M. Simpson, the daughter of Loy and Isel Elizabeth (Yohe) Rouse, was born March 28, 1910 at Nelson, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, December 23, 1999 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 25 days.

Golda grew up in Webster County, and received her formal education graduating from Eckley school. On December 12, 1929 she was married to John Yung at Nelson, Nebraska. They made their home farming in the Guide Rock community, and years later this marriage dissolved.

On May 10, 1953 Golda was united in marriage with Harold "Bub" Simpson at Guide Rock. For a number of years they operated the Coffee Shop Cafe. Golda then began twenty-five years of employment with the Guide Rock Public Schools, where she was the cook until her retirement. Due to failing health, Gold moved to the Heritage Care Center in 1992.

Golda has a number of interests and activities that occupied her leisure time. She enjoyed playing the piano and for many years was a member of the church choir. She greatly enjoyed ceramic work and had many beautiful pieces she had collected over the years. Her affection and tenderness was readily apparent as evidenced by her love of animals, especially the fondness she had for cats and dogs. Her greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for her family, and Gold treasured the time they spent together.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bub, on January 4, 1997; an infant son Billy; son Wendell Yung; a grandson, Craig Yung; and a brother Wayne Rouse.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Joy Barta and husband Dick of Independence, Kansas; and Carolyn Meistrell and husband Marvin of Goose Creek, South Carolina; two sons: John Eldon Yung and wife Darlene of Warrensurg, Missouri; and Lowell Yung and wife Alta of Axtell, Nebraska; daughter-in-law Esther Yung of Red Cloud; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister Sylvia Engel of St. Paul, Minnesota; a brother Max Rouse of Aurora, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.
