U.S. Congressman. Born in Wyckoff, New Jersey, he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1883 and commenced to practice law in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was clerk of Bergen County (1895-1910), delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1908 and president of the Hackensack Brick Company (1909-17). In 1917, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth and Sixty-sixth Congresses, serving until 1921. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his title as president of the Hackensack Brick Company in Hackensack, New Jersey, until his death at age 70.
