Ruth was born in Camden and had been a resident of Westville since 1954. She proudly served in the United States Navy during World War ll and retired in 1986 from Ralph Cornell & Co. of Woodbury. Ruth was an active member of the Westville United Methodist Church. She was a member of American Legion Post#374, the Garden State Waves, and Waves National. She was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed being on the Phillies Welcome Staff for many years. Predeceased by her husbands, David Raymond Opie and William H. Maier. Mourning her loss are her two daughters, Carol O. Papapietro of Blackwood, Susan L. Opie of Westville, 3 grandchildren Lisa, Kimberly, and Michael Papapietro. She is also survived by 3 step-children, Carol Landis of Haddon Twp, NJ, Elaine Diaz of Okatie, SC, and William T. Maier of San Diego, CA, 7 step-grandchildren and 1 step-granddaughter. Also predeceased by sister Doris A. McCormack and brother Karl P. Alminde Jr. Relatives and friends may visit with the family 9 to 10:30 AM Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at Westville United Methodist Church, Old Broadway between New and Center Sts.,Westville, NJ 08093. Funeral service at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Woodbury Memorial Park.
