Chester Cecil Calvert
Chester Cecil Calvert, a retired farmer from the area east of Madison and who resided at 125 South Exchange in Emporia, died Wednesday evening, October 3, at St. Mary's hospital in Emporia.
Mr. Calvert was born November 11, 1890 at McFall, Missouri. He went to St. Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 15 to clerk in a grocery store. He later went to Maryville, Missouri, where he attended business college prior to entering the U. S. Army where he served overseas. He married Hazel Anna Long of February 4, 1920 in Emporia, and she survives. The Calverts farmed east of Madison from 1922 until their retirement in 1957. They moved to Emporia in 1961. Mr. Calvert was a member of the Ball-McColm Post No. 5 of the American Legion in Emporia.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 5, at Blair Mortuary in Emporia, officiated by the Reverend E. A. Troyer, pastor of First Church of God. Interment was in the Memorial Lawn cemetery at Emporia.

Chester C. Calvert, 125 South Exchange St., died Wednesday evening at St. Mary's Hospital. He had lived in Emporia since 1961 and before that farmed east of Madison from 1922 to 1957. Mr. Calvert was a U. S. Army veteran of World War I and served overseas. He was a member of Ball-McColm Post 5, American Legion.
Services in the Blair Mortuary will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. E. A. Troyer, pastor of the First Church of God. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
