Mr. Beard was born July 16, 1933, in Minor Hill, Tenn., to parents C.P. and Willa Mae (Jackson) Beard. He had been a resident of Abernathy for over 35 years, where he worked in agricultural sales. In January of 1984, he moved to Lubbock and was married to Frances Niemeyer.
Survivors include his wife of over 27 years, Frances (Lee) Beard of Lubbock; his daughter, Patti Brown of Midland; four sons, Tommy Beard of Brady, TX, Timmy Beard of San Angelo, Terry Beard of Brady and Ted Beard of Colorado; a stepson, Terry Niemeyer of Lubbock; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Overstreet of Petersburg, TX, and Zera Presley of Houston; and a brother, Don Beard of Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J.D. Beard of Amarillo.
