Parents were Lewis and Catherine Peters Long. LIved on farm in Price Township, Monroe County. Lewis was a Civil War veteran. William was an engineer on the DL&W Railroad. Married Mary Ellen Lee in 1875. Came to Scranton in 1883. Had a son William J and a daughter Lucy. Died of a massive heart attack while on his train. Buried with his wife in Cemetery of the United Methodist Church, Analomink.
