Valentine G. Augustine, Jr., 19, Bruce Crossing, died Thursday, November 21, following an accident at White Pine.

Mr. Augustine was born May 28, 1955 at Wakefield. He attended Ewen-Trout Creek schools. In 1973 he married the former Sandra Ojaniemi. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ewen.

Mr. Augustine had been working at the White Pine Mine since September 18, 1973. He had been a driller-blaster since November of last year.

Survivors include his widow; his mother, Mrs. Ada Augustine of Ewen and three sisters, Mrs. Marilys Floyd and Mrs. Valerie Haapala of Rockland and Mrs. Ruth Trzecinski of Watersmeet. His father, Valentine Augustine, died in April of 1966.

An infant son born November 23 also survives.

The Brown Funeral Home at Bruce Crossing was open for visitation at six Friday night. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Louis Wren officiating. Burial was in the Ewen Cemetery.
