George Lewis Sitts, age 67, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born on June 9, 1943 in South Whitley, he was the son of Wayne and Irene Elizabeth (Salesman) Sitts.
He lived his entire lifetime in Whitley County and the past 2 years at his present home. He attended Warsaw schools. On November 28, 1963 he married Wanda Kay Brown in Columbia City. He was a retired diesel mechanic for Serv-All in Fort Wayne and enjoyed driving and building race cars and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Kay Sitts of Columbia City; 2 sons, Charlie Wayne and Robert Lewis Sitts both of Columbia City; 1 daughter, Christina Joy (Kevin) Leckrone, Columbia City; sister, Opal Sitts of Columbia City; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jennie Marie Gorski, sister, Faye Wood, granddaughter, Crystal Scott and brother, Franklin Sitts.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the funeral home with David Swineheart officiating. Burial will follow at South Park (Annex) Cemetery.
