Greta May Davis, 90, of Taylor Road, formerly of Mountain Home, Ark., died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Parish and the Ladies Council of the church and a former member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home.

An avid square dancer, she was a member of several square dance groups and of Power Squadron, a national boating organization.

She moved to Columbus in 1999.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at St. Bartholomew County Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling will be at the church from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home, Ark.

Arrangements were made by Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Born in Chariton, Iowa, May 28, 1919, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of Thomas W. and Beulah May Bond Nelson. She married Earl J. Davis April 12, 1941, in Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1987.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. (Gerald) Tarpey of Huntley, IL; a son, Father Clem (Tom) Davis of Columbus; grandsons, Michael (Kari) Tarpey of Eden Prairie, Minn., Gerald (Kelly) Tarpey and Daniel (Jennifer) Tarpey, both of St. Charles, IL; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and three brothers.
