MATHANS - Mitchell P. Mathans, 85, of Chico, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in Chico. Arrangements are under the direction of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home, 342-9003.

Memorial Services for Mitchell Patrick Mathans, 85, of Chico, Calif., will be held at 11 am Saturday, Nov. 26, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Mike passed away at Enloe Hospital, Monday, Nov. 21, with his wife by his side. He was born on Feb. 2, 1920, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Peter and Ruth Mathanetis.

Mike was a UCLA graduate. He served in the army as a pilot in World War II and Korea. He worked as a general contractor, building dams, high-rise buildings, residential and underground missile installations for 45 years until his retirement. Mike loved his trains, working with his hands, building furniture, playing bridge and cribbage and was a member of SIRS #84.

Mike was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife, Helen; son, Mitchell Patrick Mathans Jr. and his two children, Eric Paul and Nicolle Lynn Mathans; son, Rodger Elmer Mathans and his two children, Naomi Lee and Ashlee Mathans; two stepchildren, Rick Wheeler and Kathy Severin.
