"Captain Edgar R Fenstemacher, a frequent visitor at the home of his aunt, Mrs. F.M. Van Dyke of 167 Scaright avenue, has been awarded the Silver Star, General MacArthur's headquarters announced recently.

Captain Fenstemacher risked his life in heavy enemy fire to evacuate his wounded, successfully saved his unit from almost certain annihilation, the citation reads in part.

His mother, Mrs. Ralph J. Fenstemacher of Hudson, Mich., recently returned to this country by plane from Japan where she visited Captain Fenstemacher's wife, Patricia, and his twin daughters."

He was born on May 14, 1919, in Elkland, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, the son of Ralph Edward Fenstemacher, Sr. and Ella Mae Rice.

He was a resident of Lake City, Columbia County, FL, and was survived by his wife, Virginia M. Burton Fenstemacher.

Disposition at Forest Meadows Crematory, Gainesville, FL.
