Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Abbey had been In ill health for the past ten years. He was a prominent retired building contractors and had been a member of the Smethport Borough Council for the past 22 years, until his health forced him to retire several months ago.
He was one of the oldest active members of the Smethport Fire Department. He also held membership in the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 3 Smethport.
Mr. Abbey was born in Quaker Bridge, NY on January 24, 1876, and was married to Miss Harriet Louise Ostrander in Portville on September 17, 1900.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Forrest and Lynn Abbey, both of Smethport; daughters, Sister Jeanette Clare, Glendale, Ohio. Mrs. Leila Schroth and Mrs. Ruth Stromberg, both of Bradford; two brothers, Ira and Arthur Abbey, Kennedy, N. Y.; four sisters, Mrs. Belle Benson, Ridgway; Mrs. Anna Hotchklss, Quaker Bridge, and Mrs. Will Woodard and Mrs. Edna Lundgren, both of Youngsville, and six grandchildren.
