CROWELL, Weymouth (b. April 10, 1864 Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, Canada; d. February 5, 1952 Los Angeles, CA – Cathedral Mausoleum, #515) Father of six children and a well known contractor and builder in Seattle, Pasadena and Los Angeles. Crowell moved to Los Angeles in 1884 where he chopped wood for stoves and in 1889 he moved on to Seattle where he built the Minor School and many private residences. Upon his return to Los Angeles, he built the Angelus hotel, noted as the first seven-story structure in the city. In 1908, Crowell, a wealthy industrialist, built the Long Beach Public Library and in the early 1920's he purchased 25,000 acres of land in the Pacific Northwest where he ran cattle and built two ranches.
