. . . Kan., Flier's 'Chute Snags on Falling Plane at Tipton, Okla.
Tipton, Oklahoma., May 30, -- (A. P)
--- Fighting entangled cords of a parachute with which he had attempted to escape from an uncontrollable plane, John Fahring, 25, cadet at Kelly Field, Tex., plunged to his death four miles northwest of here today. Fahring's home was at Lebo, Kan.
--- Lloyd E. Hunt, Cincinnati. O., another cadet, also leaped and floated safely to earth. Hunt said the ship's controls jammed at 20,000 feet. "We had fallen 500 feet when I told Fahring to jump," Hunt said. He went out, but his 'chute caught on the tail of the ship.
"I stayed with the ship another 500 feet trying to flip the tail and shake him loose. He kept tugging at the ropes and yelling. I jumped at 1,000 feet."
Hunt was still in the air when the plane drove itself 3 feet into the ground.
Fahring's next of kin is his mother, Mrs. A. J. Bibens of Lebo, Kansas.
