Funeral services for Alan Lindsey Ritchey, 72, of Gainesville, are set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at the Whaley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Victor Casad and Rev. Larry Kruger officiating.

Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

The family will have a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Ritchey died Jan. 15, 2011. He was born Nov. 23, 1938 in Fort Worth, to William Hardin and Jenevieve Lindsey Ritchey.

Alan Ritchey began working, as a very young boy, in his father's cotton gin located in Haslet. As a youth, he graduated from Bonham High School and then went on to earn a degree in agricultural engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1960.

After completing college and marrying his wife Charlene in 1963, Alan Ritchey began his life as a young entrepreneur. He and his wife, in partnership with Alan's father, launched Ritchey Gin Company in Valley View.

Very soon after his initial business endeavor, he entered into the transportation business, hauling mail between Sherman/Denison and Texarkana. Alan expanded his company into a successful multi-faceted enterprise.

Alan is survived by his wife, Charlene of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Dee and Don Hudspeth of Denton; son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Stephanie Ritchey of Pilot Point; daughter and son-in-law, Tammra and David Allison of Argyle; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Craig Brown of Denton and daughter and son-in- law, Debra and Bradley Hieb of Valley View.

Mr. Ritchey is also survived by his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Luke and Kimberly Hudspeth; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, David and Ellyse Hudspeth; grandson, John Hudspeth; granddaughter, Sarah Beth Hudspeth; granddaughter, Leah Hudspeth; granddaughter, Lindsey Ritchey; granddaughter, Taylor Ritchey; grandson, Tyler Ritchey; granddaughter, Casey Ritchey; grandson, Brandon Allison; grandson, Caleb Allison; grandson, Ryan Allison; granddaughter, Caitlyn Brown; grandson, Connor Brown; granddaughter, Nicole Hieb; grandson, Kevin Hieb and grandson, Lance Hieb.

Survivors also include his brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Shirley Ritchey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Debra Stroup; nephew, Richard Stroup and his wife Michelle; nephew, Bobby Joe Ritchey and his wife Cathy and his niece, Charla Moss and her husband James.

Alan is preceded in death by his parents, W.H. and Jenevieve Ritchey and his son, David Alan Ritchey.
