Beloved daughter of Thomas L. & Adelaide (née Zell) Hynes; devoted sister of Rev. Gerald Hynes, CP.
Sister Paul Marie Hynes, who taught at St. Augustine School in Elkridge for 34 years, died of cancer on September 14 at Villa Assumpta Motherhouse in the Woodbrook section of Baltimore County. She was 82.
Born Dorothy Hynes in Baltimore and raised in Irvington, she attended the old St. Jerome's Commercial School and entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1941. She was given the religious name Sister Paul Marie.
Sister Paul Marie taught elementary school subjects for 60 years, beginning her career in Malden, Mass., and later teaching at St. Margaret in Bel Air and St. Paul in Ellicott City. Assigned to St. Augustine in Elkridge since 1970, she stopped teaching because of failing health this year.
