Son of Pliny MALTBIE and Anna Fowler MILLS.

Theodore was adopted by Apphia Fowler MALTBIE and Alonzo J. MALTBIE, his maternal aunt and uncle and added Maltbie to his name.

Lawyer and a member of both the Connecticut State Assembly and the Connecticut State Senate. He was a member of the Connecticut Constitutional Convention of 1902.

He resided in Granby, Connecticut, active in the affairs of the town, held many offices including Justice of the Peace for many years. Was in the legislature 1870, 1875, 187.
State Senator 1884.

His son William M. MALTBIE was also a lawyer and became Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court.

Married to Louisa Adelaide JEWETT on June 18, 1867.
