SEWELL-- Robert William, 77, died Saturday, April 25, 1998 in Tulsa, OK. He was born October 13, 1920 in Blue Mound, IL, the first of 4 children of Dewey and Lucille Sewell. He married Opal Marie White, April 5, 1941, 2 days later he was drafted into the U.S. Navy serving as an Electrical Technician specializing in Gyro Compasses in the Pacific till the end of World War II. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Navy he returned to St. Louis to begin his construction career. Years later he would retire as the President of Americana Construction in Tulsa, OK, having done construction projects all over Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas, the most notable being the building of the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO. In the last 10 years he had worked for Williams Bros. and Explorer Pipe Line as an Inspector. He lost his wife of 56 years, Pat in March, 1997. Bob is survived by: 1 brother, Charles and wife, Sandy of Tulsa; 2 sisters, Mary and husband, Harold Durall of Oklahoma City and Carol and her husband, Jim Daar of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by: 3 sons and a daughter, Bob and Marsha Sewell of Tulsa, Howard and June Sewell of Ft. Worth, TX, Bruce and Tammy Sewell of Broken Arrow, Kathy and James Roberts of Broken Arrow; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer and Jared Sewell, Howie Sewell, J.B. and Brad Roberts, Trey Traw, Shelby and Kaitland Sewell and Allisa Timmers. He was a member for many years in the Masons and was Potentate of the Akdar Shrine of Tulsa, active in the Shrine Circus and the Crippled Children's Hospitals. Bob attended Gracemont Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday at Floral Haven with interment at Floral Haven. Kirk Kriegel of Gracemont will be officiating. In lieu of flowers friends may contribute to Hospice of Green Country or Akdar Shrine Hospital Patient Transportation Fund. Floral Haven, 252-2518.
