"Bruce and Flora were the parents of three sons: Tony Tarzan Ayers, Hugh Mickey Ayers, and Donald Landers Ayers... He was a veteran of WWI and a Mason. All three of his sons were veterans of WWII. He went to work for Alcoa Aluminum Company at the Santeetlah Power House located in the Rhymer's Ferry section of Graham County in 1923 and raised his family there. He retired after thirty years of service, then moved to Robbinsville where he resided until his death in 1986. Bruce came from a large family of thirteen, having one full brother and two sisters, along with five half brothers and five half sisters. Bruce was a kind, gentle, understanding man that loved God, his family, friends, served his country and his fellow man. If he would be remembered for one thing, it would be his kindness to all." By his granddaughter Cheryl Ayers Mullinax and published in GRAHAM COUNTY HERITAGE-NORTH CAROLINA VOL I, p. 53.
