Mr. Roy Ralph Kellett, Jr. age 66, of Summerville, GA passed away January 18, 2011 at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Kellett was born December 28, 1944 in Summerville, GA, the son of Artichia Warren Kellett and the late Ralph Kellett, Sr. Mr. Kellett was a member of the South Summerville Baptist Church. Mr. Kellett had served Chattooga County as sheriff for 17 years. Mr. Kellett was also a member of the Summerville-Trion Rotary Club and the Georgia Sheriff's Association. He was named Democrat of the year in 2006. Mr. Kellett was a member of the Leadership Chattooga Program. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in Vietnam. Other than his father, Mr. Kellett was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Kellett Jones.

Mr. Kellett is survived by his beloved wife, Aleta Kellett; son, Kyle Kellett and wife, Lori Starkey Kellett; daughter, Heather Hall Spann and husband, Bruce Spann; mother, Artichia Warren Kellett; grandchildren, Kylor Kellett, Gracie Farmer, Hayden Eagle, Taylor Eagle, Kayla Spann, and Kelsi Spann; and a sister, Jody Kellett Maples and husband, Will Maples; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at South Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. David Craven, Rev. Jimmy Bryant, and Rev. Kevin Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Garden with graveside rites conducted by Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Doug Stephens, Ronnie Winters, Mark Schrader, Wayne Pace, Billy Edwards, and Jack Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Sheriff Kellett's former Employees; all members of the South Summerville Friendship Sunday School Class; and all Employee's of At Peace Hospice.

Mr. Kellett will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home. He will also lie in state at South Summerville Baptist Church from 1:30 until the service hour on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that memorials be made to the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch or to South Summerville Baptist Church.
