Rosa Etra Watts was the daughter of Robert D. Watts and Elizabeth Frances McChesney. She married Jacob Rice Compton on 3 Apr 1907.

"Chillicothe, OH, Oct 28 - About three weeks ago, Mrs. J.R. Compton Jr., developed a felon on the middle finger of her left hand. It was lanced and seemed to make rapid recovery. Last Wednesday, Mrs. Compton was taken with pain at the base of the brain, and Dr. Rickey was summoned. Her condition remained about the same until late Saturday evening when she suddenly grew worse, and Dr. Leach of Columbus was immediately called and operated upon Mrs. Compton Saturday night at the Chillicothe hospital. After trephining the skull, a large abscess was found at the base of the brain. She did not recover consciousness and passed away Monday evening at five o'clock. Mrs. Compton and her husband were telegraph operators on the N&W Railway at Chillicothe. The remains, accompanied by the grief-stricken husband and his two brothers, Lafe and John Compton and Mrs. Grossman, a sister of the deceased, were taken to Rockbridge Baths, VA., at which place the funeral service will be held. Mrs. Compton is a native of Virginia, while her husband was born and reared at Buchanan, KY." Published in the Big Sandy News (Louisa, Kentucky) dated 4 Nov 1910. Shared by JL.
