"Thomas C. Holbert Sr. 1943 - 2011
Thomas C. Holbert Sr. was born in California on June 29, 1943 and passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 6, 2011, at the age of 67, in flight to University Medical Center.
He was a long haul truck driver until he retired. He was a caring man who was known for helping strangers and always had an open door. He was always bringing home "lost people" who were in need, and while he was never wealthy by any means, he would share his last Pepsi and sandwich with a stranger if they were hungry, and he never expected anything in return.
He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas C. Holbert Jr., as well as his granddaughter, Jairess L. Hearn, age 12. Tom is survived by his wives, Shirley M. Holbert and Linda Price, both of Benson, and his ex-wife, Trudy Snyder of Tucson, as well as his 10 children: Marleah Holbert of Tucson, Lorrie Billy (Frankie) of Oklahoma, Sandy McAnally of Oklahoma, Kevin Holbert (Leslie) of Dragoon, Paula Campbell (John) of Tucson, Antonia Snyder of Tucson, Jonnie Moore (Lawrence) of Benson, Jimmy Snyder of Tucson, Audie Holbert (Stephanie) of Benson, 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly welcomed to heaven by his parents and son, Tommy and granddaughter, Jairess. He will be missed tremendously here; however, we have the comfort of knowing he is no longer in pain.
We request instead of flowers, please make a donation to a food bank, homeless shelter or local animal shelter in his name, or simply lend someone a helping hand or some of your time."
