Ruth Beardsley was born February 3, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois, to Richard and Maude Beardsley, the only girl among five brothers. She attended Iowa State University and graduated from University of Colorado with a degree in dietetics. After college, Ruth worked as a dietician for the U.S. Army in San Antonio where she met her husband, Roland Schweer. They lived in McAllen, Texas and raised three children, Robert, Barbara, and Roland. She was widowed in 1969 but continued to lead a life filled with variety and many interests including travel and painting.

Over the years, Ruth worked at Texas A&M University, Multi-Faith Retirement Center, and LeTourneau University and was described as a "loyal, enthusiastic, and unflappable worker" with her faith being an inspiration to all. Ruth's smile, sense of humor, and light inside were a delight to all who met her as well as her family and friends. A genuine concern for others, her quiet confidence in the ultimate victory of good, her joy in the Lord, and spiritual insight touched numerous lives.

Ruth is survived and lovingly remembered by her three children and eight grandchildren.
