Born on Morgan Island (later named Echtinaw Island) at Coldwater Lake, Michigan, Lucy Pearl Echtinaw was the youngest of seven children of John and Esther Echtinaw. Lucy Pearl kept a journal and would often write poetry and about her family life. United in marriage to Clifford Sherman in 1914, their three children, Esther, Rosaline, and John, were born on the island. In 1919 the family moved from the island to their property on Centennial Road in rural Coldwater where she lived until her death from cancer in 1949. Lucy Pearl Sherman is buried with Clifford Sherman at Lester Cemetery.
