OCEANA — Barbara "Babs" Bailey Wallace, 77, of Oceana, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, following a long battle with ALS.

Born July 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Harris and Emily Toler Bailey.

Babs was a retired school teacher who taught elementary education for over 37 years. She was a past president of the Oceana Woman's Club, an elder of the Kopperston Presbyterian Church and a member of the Oceana High School Hall of Fame.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joy Tyree.

Survivors include two stepchildren, Eric Wallace of Freeport, Maine, and Kelly Wallace of Carbondale, Colo.; and two nephews, Tom and Terry Tyree.

The family would like to express a special thank you to all of her health care givers for the special care she received. We all will miss her love and generosity.

In keeping with Barbara's wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no services.

Donations of sympathy may be made in Barbara's name to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
