Michael "Mike" Shane Walsh, 54, died peacefully with family by his side on January 13, 2011, due to complications from pneumonia.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Forest Grove.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, also at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the Mass to be held at the St. Anthony Parish Hall,

Rite of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Roy.

Mike was born on December 30, 1956, in Hillsboro. He was one of 8 children born to Jacob H. and Jewell (Benson) Walsh. He was raised in Forest Grove and graduated from Forest Grove High School with the Class of 1975. While in high school Mike played football and baseball.

Following high school, Mike joined the Navy and served on the USS Independence. He was honorably discharged in 1978.

In 1977 Mike was united in marriage to Cyndy Jessup. They had three children together, and later divorced. In 2003 he married Linda McMillan. Mike lived in the Forest Grove and Hillsboro area most of his life.

He worked as an engineer for Carson Oil selling oil and lubrication products throughout the Portland Metro area, and later worked for Washington County.

Among his interests and talents were woodworking and furniture refinishing. He was also a gifted artist; drawing was his favorite medium, and he loved to read and study about religion and philosophy. He enjoyed watching college football and pro basketball, and loved music – especially songs from the 1970's. Mike had a great sense of humor and never missed an opportunity for a good prank. He was close to his family and was a very thoughtful and caring individual, always going out of his way to brighten the day of others.

He is preceded in death by his mother Jewell.

Survivors include his wife Linda and ex-wife Cyndy; three children and a daughter-in-law: Michael J. "Joe" and Alia Walsh; Katie Walsh; Elizabeth Walsh; his father Jacob Walsh; his grandmother, Edna Ridling; seven siblings and their spouses: Kristi and Todd Schmit, Mike's twin brother Mark and Karen Walsh, Kelly and Bret Ericsen, Shannon and Ed Senz, Ted and Jean Walsh, Jacob "Bud" and Marina Walsh, Patrick and Cindi Walsh; and seven grandchildren: Isaac, Angel, Joshua, Elijah, Lily, Jack and Molly.

The family suggests donations in Mike's name be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
