Mary Edna Sampson, 87, died at 7:55 p.m. January 22, 2003 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

She was born October 16, 1915, in Middlesboro, KY, to Hillary and Mollie Partin Mason, who preceded her in death. On August, 7, 1933, she married Royce Sampson, who died January 15, 1957.

Mrs. Sampson had been a seamtress at Lima Brace and Limb. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher for several years and served as youth director. She enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include a son, William (Joyce) Sampson of Richmond, VA; three daughters, Phyllis (Thomas) Shupperd of Fortville, IN, Betty (Jack) Howell of Oviedo, FL, and Jackie (Darrell) Kent of Ada; two brothers, Neal Mason of Rodondo Beach, FL and Larry Mason of Lima; five sisters, Grace Crites and Joyce Johnson, both of Elida, Bessie Ackerman of Lima, June Evans of Gilder, KY and Lauretta Evans of Rodondo Beach, FL; and 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard and Willard Mason and an infant; three sisters, Ada Martin, Edith Cawood and an infant; and a grandchild.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chiles & Son-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton Chapel. William Herr will officate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Memorial Home Alzheimer's Unit.
