Thomas E. Tansel 61, Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Mooresville, died January 18, 2011. Tom was born August 26, 1949, in Gosport, to the late Eugene A. and Betty (Thomas) Tansel. Tom was a graduate of Mooresville High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. Tom worked for Indianapolis Power & Light from 1968 until 1999 as a lineman and later in dispatch. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and spending time with his family. He was a NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon race. Tom also was known for cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers. Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Beier and her husband, Scott of Chicago; Lindsey Schnell and her husband William of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Tate and Macy Beier; Sydney Schnell. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 24, 2011. Burial will be in Nebo Memorial Park, Martinsville.
