Funeral services for Mrs. E. T. Chapman, were held Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Morgan Wyrick, in Calhoun.
Mrs. Chapman was 75 years of age, and a lifelong resident of Calhoun.
Her father was Earlie David Averette, one of the first settlers of Calhoun, which at that time was known as Averette Station.
Mrs. Chapman was born January 17, 1873, and up until her health failed a year ago, she lived upon and operated the plantation which her father settled when he came to Louisiana.
She married E.T. Chapman of Columbus, Ala., in 1894, who preceded her in death six years ago.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by five children, all of whom live in Louisiana. W.W. Chapman of Monroe; Mrs. Morgan Wyrick of Calhoun; Mrs. G.V.Brown and Orland E. Chapman, both of West Monroe; and Lloyd W. Chapman of Lake Providence.
Also nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Betty Wade of West Monroe.
Mrs. Chapman was loved by all who knew her, for she was a woman of high ideals, who gave unstintingly of her time and services to all in need.
Rev. R. T. Watson of Monroe officiated and interment was in the family plot in the Calhoun Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ralph Chapman, J.D. Chapman, Clifton Gilliland, Grady Brown, H.O. Taylor, Jr., and David Chapman.
Honorary pallbearers were attending physicians, business associates and all friends of the family.
