Alicia died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center as a result of injuries she received in a car accident.
She was born Oct. 14, 1985, in Lawrence, the daughter of Gabriel and Amy (Romero) Chavez.
She was a ninth-grade student at Central Junior High School.
Alicia was involved in sports at CJHS and St. John's Catholic School, and was active in Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her parents, Lawrence; two brothers, Carlos and Chris Chavez, both of the home; her maternal grandparents, Frank and Lazara Romero, Lawrence; and her paternal grandparents, John and Loretta Chavez, Lawrence.
A memorial service for Central Junior High School students, their parents, faculty and staff will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the church.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the church, where the family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m Friday.
The family suggests memorials in her name, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
