Joseph Long was the son of
John Long 11 and Elizabeth
'Smelcer' Long. He was the
grandson of Rev. George W.
Long 1 and Nancy Elizabeth
'Maples' Long. Also Adam
Smelcer and Leah 'Ealy'
Smelcer.

'Joe' was married to Flora
'Allison' on June 30, 1870,
in Walker Co., Georgia.
They were the parents of
8 children in order:
Lydia
Alice Texas
Van Arch
Etta
Sarah
Jessie
Hugh Allison
Walter Ollie

The family moved to Deport, Lamar
Co., Texas in about 1875. They lived
there for several years. Flora's
sister was Sarah 'Allison' Long, the
wife of Adam Long, Joe's brother.

After the death of Flora, Joe
married again and her last
name was Brown. They had
two children together, Villa
and Fred. Joe and this family
lived in Chickasha, Oklahoma,
1926.
