CARLSBAD--Graveside services for Cecil E. Reed, 89, of Wyoming Street, will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Carlsbad Cemetery with Steve Brannan of Southside Church of Christ officiating.

He died Friday, March 26, 1999, at his home following a lengthy illness.

West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cecil E. Reed was born April 29, 1909, to Elbert and Alice Campbell Reed in Carbon, Texas. His family moved to western Oklahoma when he was a toddler. He was raised and educated there. He also farmed there until moving to Carlsbad in 1950.

In 1951, he began his employment with Potash Company of America where he worked up until his retirement in 1974.

Mr. Reed was a member of the Soutside Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Cecil Reed of Prospect, Ore.; three daughters, Ina Jo Hamilton of Carlsbad, and Rae Cureton and Cleta Bennett both of Douglas, Ariz.; two brothers, Bill and A.J. Reed both of Mayfield, Okla.; two sisters, Irene Wallace of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Lorita Kibler of Arlington, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
