NORTH PLATTE PIONEER RESIDENT DIES LAST EVENING

Moses McFarland, retired, U.P. Conductor, Dies At His Home.

Mr. Moses C. McFarland, retired Union Pacific passenger conductor and resident of North Platte for half century, passed away last evening about 10 o'clock at his home at 823 West Fifth street. Mr. McFarland was born at Sian,la., December 2, 1856, and came to North Platte in 1888 where he has made his home since that time. He has been in continuous service of the Union Pacific for the past thirty-eight years, retiring from service a few years ago. Mr. Mc­Farland with his wife, several months ago for California in the in­terest of his health, having suffered for some time from heart disease, which was the cause of his death. They returned to North Platte in April and the deceased had enjoyed fairly good health until two days ago when he became seriously ill, passing away at the age of 70 years. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and four children, two sons, Sidney P. of North Platte, and Donald of San Diego, Cal., and two daughters, Mrs.Lucille Nolan of San Diego, Cal., and Mrs. Mabel Livingston of North Platte, besides his many friends of this city and along the Union Pacific line which he had made during his services as a conductor and resident of North Platte. The body will, lie in state at the Maloney chapel until Tuesday morning and all friends wishing to view the remains are asked to do so within this period of time. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Episcopal church, Rev. Peck offi­ciating. Interment will be made in the local cemetery.
