Sampson and Mary Crocker had 8 known children, with a possible infant birth and death between 1834--1836, sometime between residing in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moving to Indiana and then to Jacksonville, Illinois, where their last child, Charles G. Crocker was born in 1838.
Sampson E. Crocker married Mary Gilliard/Gillard on June 9, 1819, in Slapton, Devonshire, England-a seacoast city. They immigrated to Canada where there was some Crocker land holdings & probably relatives still--and later came to the US via Baltimore, Maryland, where John, Ann C. and William Crocker were born. The next son, James, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio area, so the family moved between 1828 and 1833 to Ohio where other Crockers already resided and are reported have been cousins.
Sampson and Mary Crocker had the following children:
1. Mary Crocker Fox (1819--1899) buried Redwood City, Cal.
2. John Crocker (1824-1885) buried Elko County, Nev.
3. "Ann" Catherine A. Crocker Janes or Jeanes (1827-1908) buried in or near New London, Iowa as her body was returned by train from Kansas to New London, Iowa.
4. William Crocker (1828-1908) buried near Danville, Iowa in the Jaggar Cemetery.
5. James A. Crocker (1833-1896) buried in Placerville, Cal.(His headstone has disappeared from the cemetery.)
6. Adeline Crocker Marchant (1837-1888) buried San Bernadino, California.
7. Emaline Crocker-married to Sam Marchant/Ben Grubb/Wm. Coventry (1837-1904) a twin to Adeline, buried in Libertyville, Kansas, cemetery.
8. Charles G. Crocker (1838-1916) buried near Mt. Union, Ia.in Trinity cemetery.
While Ann C. (Crocker-Janes/Jeanes) died in Kansas in 1908-likely with some family member, she was returned to New London, Iowa, and there buried, but the site of her grave has not yet been found only a reference to a U.P. church funeral early in May of 1908
--James A. Crocker was reported to be in the Old Pioneer Cem., Placerville, Cal., but "Find a Grave" volunteers have been unable to locate a stone for anyone there by that name Information existed that they were buried there with possible stones that have since disappeared.--Vandalism occurred in older cemeteries.
The others have burial locations found.
Due to the early date of death for Sampson Crocker, an obituary has not yet been located. Most of the family information was obtained from the Crocker family tree researched by Wm. Barry of California, a Crocker descendent who did extensive researcher into the family before the 1940's and expanded on by myself through extensive research, also. S. Donath
