Charles passed away at Westridge Health Care, Terre Haute. He was born to Charles Edward & Mary Edith Zimmerman Wardle. He graduated from Pimento High School in 1940, and entered the Army Air Corps 9th Bomb Squadron. He was stationed in the Marianna Islands off the cost of Japan and was discharged in Dec. 1945, after four years of service. He was a member of Sheet Metal Local 20, and had worked for three different heating and air conditioning shops in the Terre Haute area. Charles retired from Indiana State University as the Cooling Towers supervisor. He was a member of Maplewood Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and a trustee, was a Scoutmaster at the church for 15 years, and earned the Order of the Arrow. He was married Sept. 28, 1947 to Helen Martin Wardle, they were married for 63 years. Visitation for Charles will be Saturday Nov. 6, 2010 from 1 to 3pm, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St. with services following. Pastor Craig Wininger will be officiating. There will be a private burial at Fairview Cemetery, in Linton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sonsine Center at Maplewood Christian church, and the McMillian Adult Day Services.
