Resolution by District Bar of Somervell County - November 22, 1911:
"To the Honorable District Court of Somervell County, Texas
We, your Committee heretofore appointed to draft suitable resolutions commemorative of the death of Honorable Lev Hays, of Somervell County, Texas, beg leave to submit the following:
Whereas, in the course of human events, and in accordance with the decree of all wise Providence, the Honorable Lev Hays, former County Attorney of Somervell County, Texas, departed this life on the 8th day of September 1911 and
Whereas, in the death of the said Lev Hays the Bar of Somervell County has lost an able and efficient member, the Community at large an honorable and upright citizen, and his family an affectionate and loving father and husband.
Therefore, Be it Resolved by the bar of Somervell County, Texas, that we deplore the untimely death of the Honorable Lev Hays; that said Lev Hays, as a lawyer, was always true to the best interests of his clients, was courteous, kind and considerate to his fellow members of the Bar, and always upheld the ethics of his profession and his deportment in the conduct of his cases was that of a high toned honorable gentleman.
That as a County official he was always true to the best interest of the State prosecuting crime to the best of his ability, and was ever vigilant in the performance of the duties of his office.
That as a private citizen he was moral and upright in his dealings with all men and we commend him as an example to those who desire to lead the life of an upright citizen.
Be it further resolved, that we hereby extend to his grief stricken wife and fatherless children the heartfelt sympathy of each and ____________a page of each and every member of this bar that a page the minutes of the board be dedicated and set apart to the memory of said Lev Hays and that these resolutions be spread thereon and that a copy of same, under the seal of this Court, be furnished the family of the deceased.
