Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late John H. and Josephine B. (Armstrong) Martin, she was a lifelong resident of the city and a graduate of Holy Family High School.
Mrs. Muir worked for the State of Massachusetts Welfare Office in New Bedford for 20 years, retiring in 1986. An avid bowler and member of various leagues, she was a charter member and past president of the Southern Bristol County Woman's Bowling Association. She was a member of the former Franco American Auxiliary and the Weekend Club.
She is survived by her son Dave A. Muir and his companion Patricia Simonelli of Onset; and her sister, Bertha A. Toussaint of Acushnet. She was the aunt of Marguerite McCuen, Lillian Garbaciak, Madeleine Bristow, John Martin, Gerard Guillet and Richard Martin, several grand nieces and nephews and four grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Charles O. Muir and sister of the late Armand, Ovila and Lillianne Martin and Beatrice Guillet.

Her funeral will be held Friday January 28, 2011 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St. Fairhaven followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in St. Mary's Church, Main St. Fairhaven. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 PM. Flowers accepted or contributions in her memory may be made to Our Lady's Haven, 71 Center St. Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
