He was a prominent attorney of law in Indiana. His early education was at the Indiana State Normal School (now Indiana University) and the Kiskiminetas Springs School, Amherst College 1917 witha degree of A. B. His legal education was attained from Harvard Law School. He was admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and a partner in the firm of Fisher, Ruddock & Simpson in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He was superintendent of the Sunday School in the Greystone United Presbyterian Church for 25 years. He was on the board of Trustees of Westminster College and Pittsburg Xenia theological Seminary as well as the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Chamber of Cammerce. He took an active interest the Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity to which he belonged in college. He was a member of the American Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Bar and the Indiana County Bar Associations.
